Mangalore Buns (fried banana bread)

Mangalore buns / Fried Banana Bread

This simple fried banana bread brings back such fond childhood memories 😍 - food memories are a different kind of nostalgia isn't it not only does your mind and heart reminsce...your taste buds join in too! I used to absolutely love these buns as a kid and now my kids love it too 😀!

Recipe:
Mangalore buns

1) mash 2 over ripe bananas, add 2 tablespoon sugar to this,  1 tablespoon curd mix well,
2) to this add salt, pinch of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of ajwain-jeera-kalonji seeds mix
3) add 2 cups of maida and make a soft dough like a chapati dough
4) grease it with coconut oil and cover the bowl with a cloth and let it stay overnight
5) in the morning roll it into small rounds like the size of poori but only a little thicker and deep fry... Buns are ready!

You can serve it with

A) Coconut chutney and/or sambar

Recipe for chutney  - freshly grated coconut 1 cup, a little  tamarind, roasted Channa dal 1 tablespoon,  green chilli 2,  salt, ginger half inch and water - blitz in a mixer and ready!

B) Nutella! Dust a little icing sugar on top and serve with nutella. My kids prefer option B obviously!
