I think after Maggie this is like "the" dish most of us learnt to make by ourselves growing up π , so many fond memories of it !
I'm sure all of us know the recipe and have our own little quirky takes to this very popular dish which never fails to hit the spot. Here are a few of mineππΌ
Tips & tricks :
1) I use coconut milk instead of regular milk and also switched to coconut oil instead of butter (just some coconut phase I'm in, you could skip)
2) used cardamon powder instead of vanilla essence
3) old and dried bread is better as it soaks up more of the custard mixture and gives you a creamier French toast
4) make on low flame, taking your time.. So you get a golden crust and a creamy, custardy texture within π
Recipe
Ingredients
1) 4 eggs
2) 100 ml coconut milk
3) half teaspoon cardamon powder
4) 3 tablespoon brown/ coconut sugar
5) coconut oil to toast
6) 6 slices of bread , brioche will be best
Method
1) in a bowl add ingredients 1 to 4 and whisk with a hand whisk.
2) dip bread slices, 1 after another, in above custard, taking care all sides are coated well 3) and toast with some coconut oil on a griddle, on either side until golden.
4) serve with some fruits and coffee!
