Masala Vada / Chattambade

Masala Vada / Chattambade

Rainy day in Krakow calls for Masala Vada (Chattambade) and ginger tea! What's more, my kids are home and got all nostalgic as this vada reminds them of home (thatha's/grandpa's home in Bangalore 😍)

Recipe:

1) Soak 1 cup Chana Dal for 4 hours and grind coarsely
2) also grind 2 inch ginger, 5-6 garlic pods, 2-3 cloves, a small cinnamon stick, 4 green chillies and mix into the ground Dal
3) chop 2 onions, 2 sprigs curry leaves, dill leaves(sabsighe soppu) 1 bunch and coriander leaves half bunch, mix with rest of the ingredients
4)you can store this batter in the fridge in an airtight container for upto 3 days.
5) take a bowl of this batter at a time to make vadas. Add salt to season (only to the bowl of batter taken out) and make small flat vadas in the palm of your hands and drop gently into the hot oil to deep fry until golden.

6)you can serve as is with ginger tea or with coconut chutney.

Enjoy the rains and remember you can't have a rainbow without a little rain 🌈  !
