Southekayi Dose/ Cucumber Dosa


Cucumber dosa with Coconut chutney 
(Southekayi Dose mathu kayi chutney)

- This is a very popular mangalorean breakfast and every household will have their own take on it 😄. One can even find a sweet version (dessert) of this dosa! This dosa does not need any fermentation and can be prepared instantly much like Neer Dosa (look up for that recipe on my blog)

Cucumber Dosa Recipe

1) wash and soak 2 glasses of rice (dosa rice/red rice) for 4-6 hours
2) chop 2 medium sized cucumbers (peel and all) 
3) grate half a coconut 
4) grate 1 inch ginger, chop 2 green chillies, a little coriander leaves, curry leaves and mint leaves.
5) grind 1,2,3,4 to a fine paste add salt to taste.
6) batter consistency should be watery (like that of neer dosa batter ) 
7) make dosa's just like how we make neer dosa and enjoy it with coconut chutney.

Coconut Chutney Recipe

Ingredients
1) freshly grated coconut 1 cup
2) a little  tamarind ( size of peanut)
3) roasted Channa dal 1 tablespoon (puttani),
4) green chilli -2 numbers
5) salt, ginger half inch and water as needed

Method - blitz all ingredients in a mixer and ready!
