Idli chutney ( steamed rice cakes and chutney) - Our quintessential Southern Indian breakfast 💓 .

Idli Recipe
1) soak 3 cups idli rava ( available in any Indian grocery stores) for 5-6 hours.
2) in a separate bowl wash and soak half cup urad dal (skinned black lentils), quarter teaspoon methi seeds (fengureek seeds) for 5-6 hours
4)In a 3rd bowl soak a handful of poha in water .
3) Grind soaked Urad Dal, fenugreek seeds and poha (2&3) into a fine paste
4) wash and squeeze all the water from soaked idli rava (rice rave) and mix it into the ground paste
5)add a little salt and mix well, let it ferment overnight in a warm place
6) your idli batter is ready in the morning to steam into lovely soft idlis
7) you can store this batter in the fridge for 2-3 days

Chutney Recipe
Ingredients
1) Pudina leaves 1 bunch
2) green chillies - 4
3) coriander leaves - half a bunch
4) curry leaves - 1 handful
5) 1 cup of grated coconut,
6) little tamarind ( size little bigger than a pea)
7)garlic 4-5
8) onion - half
9) and a handful of puttani (roasted Chana dal)
Method
- grind in the mixer and add salt per taste and its ready.
